Wings for Life funds cutting-edge research projects and clinical trials across the globe aimed at finding a cure for spinal cord injury. As spinal cord injury is not considered ‘widespread’, medical and scientific research is significantly underfunded.
Since Wings for Life was first founded, 239 spinal cord research projects have been funded at the world’s most well-respected institutes and a number of vital breakthroughs have been made.
The developments so far provide strong hope that treatment options are closer than they have ever been. However, intensive research work will be needed before a breakthrough in human medicine can be achieved.
