Thanks for visiting the Masquerade Ball Microsite

I'm Karolina and my family and I are delighted to be involved with JDRF and the ball.

My son Noah was diagnosed when he was just two years old. It was a shock, and it took a while to sink in. I’ve never seen my husband that worried before. We were thinking what would his life be like, what would the impact be on our older daughter?

There have been some scary times over the years. Noah had a severe hypo whilst on holiday in Tenerife resulting in us having to call an ambulance. Thankfully we were able to stabilise him and when we got back, we were offered a pump to help control. That came with its own challenges and more to learn – It’s like having a Rolls Royce and not knowing how to drive it!
Thankfully, Noah is a sensible boy and has been really disciplined and taken the responsibility very well. His sister Sophie has been amazing and one time set up a stall selling her books to raise money for JDRF! It had a big impact on Sophie – she worries something will happen to Noah and sometimes she can feel a bit jealous of all of the attention needed to keep Noah safe.

If you live with type 1 diabetes then you'll know how tough the daily routines are. We want to do something positive for Noah's future and that's why we got involved with JDRF.

JDRF receive no government funding and rely on supporters like us to fund the global research projects that are moving forward at pace towards a cure. We know research works. If you can join us or support in any way you will be helping to ensure a future where diabetes can do no harm.

Hope to see you there!
Best Wishes
