Dear Friends,

On behalf of the Tessa Jowell Foundation and the members of our Advisory Board, I am thrilled that you will be joining us at our ‘Night To Remember’ fundraising dinner at Southwark Cathedral on November 24th, from 6.30pm.

Southwark Cathedral is an iconic site, which also holds extra significance for the evening as it is where my Mum’s memorial service was held almost exactly four years to the date of the event. Members of our team and our Advisory Board have planned an extraordinary evening of celebration, fun and entertainment, with guests from Mum’s enduring network of friends and colleagues from the worlds of Culture, Media, Politics and Sport, all coming together in aid of the Tessa Jowell Foundation.

Our drinks reception will be followed by a welcome from a very special guest and we will be guided through the evening with lots of laughs by a formidable duo, culminating in our show stopping experiential auction and some live music. The auction will be led by Sotheby’s and comprises a broad range of incredible prizes, which include the donation of a breathtaking bespoke 6 ft circular painting by Turner Prize winner Keith Tyson, “Still Life Orbiting A Star, for Tessa”, which has been scaled down to create the most beautiful invitation you have or will soon receive.

As you know, my Mum passed away from brain cancer in 2018. Subsequently I, on behalf of our family, founded the Tessa Jowell Foundation to support the delivery of her incredible legacy, and to keep the power of her values and humanity alive as an enduring force for good in the world.

It is a shocking and widely unknown fact that brain cancer is the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40 in the UK. The Tessa Jowell Foundation, with our partner the Tessa Jowell Brain Cancer Mission, is currently working with every NHS brain cancer centre in the UK to systemically innovate and transform NHS brain cancer treatment and care through our NHS Tessa Jowell Centre of Excellence initiative. In the first 18 months of implementation, our work has been commended by the NHS as being 'unprecedented and exemplary’ so we are now fundraising to support our expansion into Tessa Jowell Centres of Excellence for children.

Everything raised through this event will go towards ensuring that every child and adult in the UK diagnosed with brain cancer, the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40, will receive today’s cutting-edge treatment, while paving the way to making this disease curable in the future.

I am so looking forward to seeing you at what we believe will be a truly magical night to remember.

With all possible best wishes,

Jess xx
