Anecdotally tangled with Food of War from the very beginning, Gilbert and George have been an inspiration to them. The duo were part of the audience of the collective’s first show which took place at BSMT space, London. After many years, and collaborations with great artists like Marina Abramovic or Raul Marroquin, the collective pursued a joint work with Gilbert and George who gave permission to the use of their image for a collage. Residents in the same neighborhood where Food of War has its studio, G&G remains a constant source of encouragement to the collective.
Juan Cabello Arrinas is the lead collage artist at FoW and for this piece has arranged G&G in the middle of the Ukrainian convoluted food panorama.
