This garment is a gorgeous adventure into the abstract. The blue dress has rich dark prints of branches, fruit, and ropes all over the dress. The neckline is deep on both sides with the cream lining visible underneath. The skirt is pleated and tied together at the hem, creating an elastic effect seen on children’s costumes and reminding viewers of Claire’s iconic style. Knots of silk ribbon fall from the skirt in cream and burgundy colours like the separate corset. The gown was made by Yuki, a designer who uses her Japanese heritage to repurpose clothes into couture. Her influence is seen through the conceptual sleeves and creative print.
