From the seed of a brilliant idea by a teacher and a writer, First Story has grown to become England's leading creative writing charity for young people. In our first fifteen years, we've supported thousands of underserved students to develop their creativity, confidence, writing ability and talent.


The party

The party and fundraiser for our milestone birthday, First Story is 15  is on Thursday 2 November at The Institute of Contemporary Arts in London. Limited tickets are available for this exclusive event to raise essential funds. The party is also when our Six Word Stories auction closes. 

The auction

A collection of celebrated writers have each contributed an original six word story for a unique literary auction. Stories are handwritten and signed by the authors and all have been artfully framed by the renowned Green & Stone of Chelsea. Six Word Stories online auction closes Thursday 2 November at 9pm GMT.  

The cause

Since founding in 2008, every year we've professionally produced a printed anthology for each First Story group. Over 550 First Story anthologies have transformed thousands of aspiring young writers from disadvantaged backgrounds into published authors with a book in collection of the British Library.
