Maz wanted to have some fun with the theme of reflections and experiment with creating a mirror that celebrates iconic architecture in London. After going on a tour of the Golden Lane estate and being shown one the building’s flats as part of Open House festival, Maz took inspiration from the much loved Basterfield House. The artwork has been crafted using timber that reflects the beauty of the building's variance in colours as it has faded over the years.

Maz Weineck is an artist that takes inspiration from the built environment. They use their experience as an architectural modelmaker to explore architectural details, patterns and landscapes. They are particularly interested in the textural and historic juxtapositions of buildings found around London.
